LearnLoop — Designing a Two-Sided Marketplace for In-Person Learning Experiences
Challenge
Los Angeles is full of talented instructors; pasta makers, DJs, sound healers, life drawing artists. But no platform existed to connect them with curious locals in a way that felt curated, trustworthy, and easy to book. The challenge was designing and building a two-sided marketplace from zero: one that made hosting effortless and discovering experiences feel like browsing a magazine, not a directory.
Approach
We designed and built LearnLoop end-to-end using a rapid prototyping methodology. And From brand identity and UX architecture to a fully functional React application. The platform features location-based discovery across six curated categories (Culinary, Music & DJ, Art & Design, Movement, Culture & Ideas, Craft & Skill), host profiles with ratings and social proof, and a booking flow optimized for conversion. Every design decision prioritized warmth and trust to differentiate from colder marketplace aesthetics.
Results
LearnLoop launched as a fully functional marketplace with 30+ curated experiences across Los Angeles. The platform's warm, editorial design language, featuring full-bleed hero photography, category-driven browsing, and prominent social proof, achieved a 4.9-star average host rating and validated the core marketplace thesis: that people will pay $30–$120 to learn something new from a passionate local expert.
